Wolf and Raven
This book is a braided novel: a collection of short stories woven into a novel. This is a favorite book of mine, with the stories written for love, not money. (Though it was fun to get paid for them.) Funny, gritty, set in the ShadowRun™ universe created by FASA.
Prince of Havoc
Task Force Serpent has triumphed and Clan Smoke Jaguar is shattered beyond redemption. but the final battle is still o come, when Prince Victor Steiner-Davion braves the unknown and travels to the very heart of the Clans: Strana Mechty. there, with elite unites from across the Inner Sphere, he must wage the ultimate battle to destroy the Crusader cause and forever eliminate the possibility of a new Clan invasion. Pushed to the edge of endurance by a peace they cannot understand, the Clans accept the challenge—and the ultimate battle begins.
But even if the Inner Sphere should prove triumphant, will their return be what they expect? Prince Victor left an Inner Sphere united under a new Star League to battle the most dangerous foe the Inner Sphere has ever encountered: the Clans. but he also left behind his scheming sister Katrina Steiner, whose ambition knows no bounds. Task Force Serpent and Prince Victor believed that facing the Clans on their own homeworlds would prove the most difficult fight of their lives. They will soon learn that their fight has just begun.
Prince of Havoc was Mike’s last BattleTech™ novel for FASA.
Once A Hero
Epic fantasy in Mike’s original universe!
Once A Hero was Mike’s first stand-alone fantasy novel. It is set in a fantasy world of his design which challenges one of the standard tropes in fantasy fiction: why would Elves—they of virtual immortality—ever truly be friends with Humans who have this Mayfly existence by comparison? They really wouldn’t, but this novel shows how and why Elves could no longer dismiss humanity as “oxen with thumbs.”
Of this book, others have said:
“Magic, action, adventure, romance… This book has it all!” —Jennifer Roberson
“Once A Hero is a richly imagined tapestry, woven of sword-steel and sparked with threads of magic.”— Diana Gabaldon
“Enough action, adventure and romance to satisfy the most demanding.”—Roger Zelazny
“What a magnificent tale. Wonderful… An incredible tapestry.”— Dennis L. McKiernan
Mage's Blood & Old Bones
This book is a fantasy anthology produced by Flying Buffalo, Inc. Liz Danforth and Mike edited it, and it contains stories by Liz Danforth, Ken St. Andre, Bear Peters, Katharine Kerr, Mark O’Green and me. Dennis L. McKiernan wrote the introduction for it. Tom Dow, Jim Nelson, Jeff Laubenstein and Liz Danforth illustrated the book.
Evil Triumphant
The exciting concluding volume of the Fiddleback Trilogy.
“The enemy of my enemy is my friend.”
Or so the conventional wisdom goes… But when forced to work with a Dark Lord, nothing is conventional.
Fiddleback and Coyote need each other to defeat fiddleback’s rebellious protege, the sculptor Pygmalion. This alliance, however, could prove to be Coyote’s—and Earth’s—death-knell.
Pygmalion now has a pupil of his own—the godling Ryuhito, grandson of the Japanese emperor. Through him, Pygmalion’s horrific power is amplified. But the fires of betrayal burn within the newly apprenticed Ryuhito. And the Emperor wants him back.
Deceit, treachery and revenge fester in this war of Dark Lords and their minions. Coyote and his warriors fight against Dark Lords, doing battle to prevent the nightmare of… Evil Triumphant.
Evil Ascending
The second exciting installment of the Fiddleback Trilogy.
Rajani, the daughter of an ET who escaped domination by the Dark Lords, struggles across a ruined Earth to destroy Fiddleback.
Tycho Caine, a former puppet of Fiddleback, assumes the identity and mission of Coyote, the man who stole his memory and set him free. Caine’s mission leads him to a Tibetan monastery, where dimension-walking monks help him search for his true nature.
Sinclair MacNeal, working for Coyote/Caine, travels to Tokyo to find the enclave of assassins where Caine was forged into Fiddleback’s tool.
Where these three paths converge, Dark Lords clash, and reality bends like heated wax.
A Gathering Evil
Originally written to introduce the roleplaying game Dark Conspiracy, A Gathering Evil is a techno-horror thriller and the first of the Fiddleback Trilogy.
Tycho Caine is a man with a mission. He’s sure of that. But, waking up in a body bag with amnesia, he’s not sure of much else. Except that someone wants him dead.
The world is ours—or what ours would have been had it followed a nastier path. In Phoenix, Arizona, the streets are roofed over with giant solar power panels called “Frozen Shade” by the street people. Giant corporate fortresses dot the landscape. A privileged few enjoy pampered luxury, while a vast underclass suffers. Behind it all, unspeakable abominations carry out a convoluted, centuries-old plan of invasion and conquest.
Caine’s search for his identity and his mission uncovers an invasion from another dimension, an invasion so subtle, so covert, that most of the world has not even noticed. The invaders are the stuff of nightmares—every “mythical” monster is only a pale, dimly viewed reflection of their unimaginable reality. Worst of all, Cain discovers that he may be one of the dark minions of A Gathering Evil.
